Position description - Purpose

Shell Trading & Supply has a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, LNG, chemicals natural gas, electrical power and CO2. Trading offices are located in the US, Canada, UK, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Barbados, Dubai and Russia, with many other downstream entities situated across the globe.

The successful candidate will deliver a professional Demurrage/PDE service in Singapore/Dubai for the trading desk assigned to him/her by the Team Lead. The team will provide demurrage and post deal claim analysis, negotiation and settlement on behalf of companies within the Shell Trading & Supply network and Manufacturing Company affiliates. The aim of the team is to minimize the demurrage exposure for Shell entities. The work is carried out using a wide range of Trading and Scheduling IT systems such as DEX and RADAR.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Leader and other Demurrage analysts in the network to ensure efficient and effective end to end (E2E) working processes, and will seek continual improvement and adopt best practices.

Position description - Accountabilities

  • Support the G2V model of growth reporting into Chennai SBO
  •  Investigate the events of a voyage, deviations from the initial agreement and check what was contractually agreed around the events
  • Prepare and negotiate claims with customers to maximize income for Shell while reducing cost paid by Shell
  • Strong negotiation skills towards third parties to guarantee settlement of claims in agreed timeline according to internal policy.
  • Ensure all claim activities are correctly reflected in financial and trading systems
  • Work with peers in Chennai & Dubai to create inter-operability and support best practices and share knowledge
  • Collaborate with other SBO’s teams to support migration and share key learnings.
  • Use a continuous improve mind-set to support process improvements 
  •  Follow internal procedures to receive approval for payments and escalate to Team lead when needed in a timely manner
  • Take responsibility for safety, compliance and audit readiness
  • Support and work with internal customers, like Commercial OPS, Contracts, Trading & Supply, manufacturing teams to increase operational excellence, identify profit leakage and implement remedies
  • Periodically review most common root causes of demurrage with internal customers and advise how to reduce such costs
  • Proactively advise all Shell stakeholders on improvements creating end to end value for Shell 

Experience and Qualifications Required
