Trade Compliance Manager
What is the role?
As a manager – Trade Compliance, you will be responsible to the following duties:
Acquire, possess, and maintain adequate levels of Trade Compliance knowledge, experience and expertise
Provide advice and guidance for routine Trade Compliance issues. Seek advice from Trade Compliance Officer where and when appropriate
Liaise closely with Trade Compliance Officer and staff to resolve Trade Compliance issues (e.g., application of sanctions, imports, exports, anti-boycott
Assist the Business/Function in assessing risk exposure based on sufficient knowledge of applicable Trade Compliance regulations
Possess sufficient working knowledge of business operations to enable further integration of mandatory Trade Compliance procedures into business processes to manage and mitigate identified Trade Compliance risks
Work with Business Focal Points to address escalations of counterparty screening matches
Keep apprised of changes in regulatory requirements and modify compliance responses accordingly
Survey internal developments and significant non-compliance events. Ensure risks are assessed and adjust program implementation accordingly
Provide regular status updates on TC risks, exposures, project status, etc. to Trade Compliance Sponsor
Promote awareness of Trade Compliance risks and required processes throughout the organization
Monitor, correct and report on TC Records Management
Gather and report information on Trade Compliance activities as required for internal and external reporting purposes
Monitor compliance program implementation and operation of controls in the Business / Function
Maintain oversight and regular contacts with other TCMs in areas of potentially parallel or overlapping involvement
Maintain close association with relevant risk assurance and compliance staff (e.g., GRAs, BCOs, ECMs) in the respective organization
Ensure adequate number and level of Technical Classification Experts are available to cover classification requirements (can be done in coordination with other TC professionals)
Obtain regular, knowledgeable, and visible support from senior and middle management
Maintain TC competencies through periodic attendance at external courses and conferences
What do we need from you
Requirements
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Candidate must have 10+ (ten) years plus trade compliance experience in Oil and Gas industry
Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, International Business, Supply Chain Management, preferred
Specific knowledge and clear understanding of trade compliance, including EAR (Export Administration Regulations) and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations.) export regulations, import regulations, foreign/free trade zones, Harmonized System classification, OFAC sanctions, free trade agreements, anti-boycott regulations)
Knowledge and usage of trade compliance tools and software preferred
In-depth understanding of Incoterms required
Strong verbal and written communication skills; creative and advanced presentation and materials design
Strong project management capability
Ability to work independently on a wide range of projects and exercise judgment to make reasoned decisions
Effective relationship management and influencing skills
Strong research and analytic capabilities; attention to detail
Work collaboratively within a team and provide cross-support and guidance as needed; help motivate and encourage positive team
