The Role

What’s the role?

As Environment Engineer (Circularity), your key accountabilities include the following:

  • Ensure all legal, regulatory, Shell Group and DS-M Environmental requirements related to Company owned or controlled Waste are translated into transparent and pragmatic site work processes and procedures.

  • Assure site delivery on Environmental Waste Management System and procedures are in accordance with local/country regulations, Group environmental standards and Control Framework Waste Manual requirements.

  • Become the site Environment Engineer Waste Circularity focal point to implement Environmental Waste Improvement Programme and ensure all waste related activities are conducted and managed in accordance with agreed environmental practices and procedure as outlined in the site waste management system and Performance, Monitoring & Reporting (PMR) environmental waste performance reporting requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to reuse/ recycle wastes for the same or alternative applications or return unused materials to suppliers. Identify recycling and recovery opportunities for waste. Site focal point for the site waste minimisation strategy document.

  • Continuously pursue opportunities to eliminate/ reduce costs related to waste management across the site.

  • Conduct Environment field walkabout to raise environment waste awareness and conduct environment field audit to ensure field waste compliance. Monitor, track, drive action items to closure.

  • Assure site Waste Management Process is effective and efficient and in compliance with site waste procedures, local and Control Framework requirements.

  • Monitor Waste Activities and support the identification, characterisation, classification of waste according to local regulatory requirements. Provide advice on test requirement(s) when SDS or sample test reports are not available. Collaborate with Technologists or Operations to determine waste stream characteristics based on process knowledge.

  • Provides environmental waste support to Projects & T/A event to achieve Goal Zero aspiration.

  • Responsible for the Waste Management Plan of the comprehensive HSSE Plan for turnaround events and projects, and to ensure Waste practices and/or procedures are communicated and practiced during execution.

  • Assure and support Contract & Procurement (CP) in ensuring waste disposal and related contracts are structured to comply to Shell Control Framework Waste manual and local regulatory requirements; and waste circularity terms are incorporated as appropriate.

  • Report and investigate waste related incidents and lead/ assist to develop projects and solutions to waste problems to prevent recurrence.

  • Support and facilitate trans-national movement of waste to meets the requirements of the Basel Convention when applicable by applying for the required export permits. Provide advice on Dangerous Goods classification for purpose of transport of waste over sea.

What we need from you

We are keen to speak to professionals with the following:

  • Degree in Chemical/ Process/ Environment Engineering, or other relevant technical degree related to environment.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience as Environmental Engineer/ Chemical Engineer/ Process Engineer or related disciplines.

  • Knowledgeable of NEA Environment Public Health (Toxic Industrial Waste) Regulations, Environmental Public Health (General Waste Collection) Regulations, SS603 Code of Practice for Hazardous Waste Management and ISO 14001 management system.

  • Experienced in performing NEA Waste Consignment Notes i.e. eTracking.

  • Knowledgeable of trans-national movement of Waste and Basel Convention requirements. Familiar with Dangerous Goods classification for purpose of transport of waste over sea will be advantages.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional business teams. Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

  • Technical competency and strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
