The role will focus on supporting pricing, evaluation, and management of structured products and assets across the eastern interconnect. This will include supporting the North team in fixed priced deal flow, strategy development and execution. While the group is focused in New York (NYISO), New England (NEISO), and Ontario (IESO); deals based around extrinsic value delivery from other ISOs are in scope for this role.
Responsibilities:
Trade for profit in North power and gas markets, with an emphasis on volatility.
Evaluate and manage a portfolio of structured products and assets, including vanilla power and gas options, basis options, HRCOs, tolls, revenue puts, full requirements, and other exotic offerings
Work with origination, risk, and other traders to understand risk profile underlying transactions and ways of optimizing / maximizing value
Work with origination and structuring to create bespoke or “one-off” offerings which fit customer needs
Mark volatilities across ISOs in the Eastern Interconnect
Work with desk, analyst, and fundamentals team to develop trade ideas and evaluate trade strategy
Support North desk in valuing and managing deal flow, provide backup to fixed price curve marking
Maintain exposure and P/L reports; explain drivers and positions to management
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum 10 or more years of experience in generation dispatch or power trading with extensive familiarity with one or more regional energy producers and markets.
Knowledge of and adherence to industry Compliance and Regulatory rules.
Strong understanding of options theory and tradeable products in market.
Proven track record of trading for profit and managing complex portfolios.
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
Commercially driven and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of power and gas fundamentals.
Basic coding knowledge is required, and strong coding experience desired.
