IT Operations Lead- DevOps SRE

The Role

What's the role?


The primary responsibility of the IT Operations Lead for Crude and Products is to serve as the application and functional expert on the business processes, systems and data in the Trading and Supply SOM team. The Analyst will be accountable for key operational activities including managing and prioritizing changes, implementation of application fixes and ensuring key deliverables such as End-of-Day processing and Regulatory reporting are on time. The Business Analyst will work with the various internal teams, multiple service providers and other Business Analysts to provide IT solutions and Support, to meet the business needs.

Position Information:

  • Drive DevOps initiatives on a need basis and gain business and application knowledge which can be used to build a knowledge base within the Trading and Supply operations team.
  • This position manages overall delivery, outages for landscapes thereby ensuring availability, reliability, and overall supportability on a 7x24, 365 day basis with team members across the globe applying the follow-the-sun model.
  • Ensure effectively application operations through management of various third-party Managed Services in coordination with internal IT support teams. Ensure that the application landscape is functioning effectively, and that issues and requests are resolved per agreed Service Levels. 
  • Manage the Disaster Recovery (DR) plans for critical business applications within the landscape. This includes maintenance of the application & infrastructure landscape documentation on an annual basis, document failover process, criteria, timings and annual DR testing.
  • Agree and manage any changes to the Operating Plan with the Business Interface for both the landscapes and Demand. Ensure future demand from business growth, organic growth, operational remediation or changes in business requirements are included in the Demand Forecast.
  • Ensure applications and databases are compliant by executing controls as requested.

What we need from you?

Skills & Requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 years of overall work experience and should have experience in application development.
  • A professional certification e.g. ITIL certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud github action terraform Kubernetes docker.
  • Good to have knowledge in Logic app Form recognizer Azure function azure data factory azure devops .
  • Good Troubleshooting skills Monitoring tools ex Grafana, Prometheus etc. 
  • Should have work experience and sound knowledge in.NET API, IIS, and REACT JS.
  • Knowledge or work experience in any of these technologies like Kubernetes Containers, Python, Azure Data Lake Store is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with emphasis on strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with good analysis and problem-solving skills, including strong interpersonal relationship, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver results in a matrix organization driving delivery excellence through influence and team working.
  • Must have strong teamworking skills in a virtual environment; willingness to travel overseas on a need basis.
  • Comprehensive understanding of business process improvement, benefit and risk management.
  • This role works the normal UK hours in the office based in the London Shell Campus.
