Credit Risk Advisor Chemicals
What is the role
As a Credit Risk Advisor Chemicals, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Credit risk analysis and management of a portfolio of Chemicals commercial accounts across the US/Canada, working with customers and the business to optimize risk and return.
Manage a portfolio of complex customer credit relationships that present high risk / high value at risk, interact with Credit Operations Centers in Manila handling lower value at risk accounts.
Participate in the commercial deal process to optimize business returns by providing commercial insights, solutions, and advice which enable the business to optimize customer/portfolio risk vs. reward and achieve business objectives.
Credit management activities for an assigned customer portfolio, including risk assessments, establishing credit limits, credit line increases, analysis of overall customer and portfolio credit exposures and optimizing balance of risk vs. reward, making recommendations on credit terms and contract language.
Manage high risk situations / trigger events, and the negotiation and management of security necessary to support higher risk exposures.
Maintain effective working relationships with internal customers (Sales, OTC, Finance, Legal, etc.) and external 3rd party trade customers, partnering with the business to influence deal structures
Provide risk-based advice on customer credit matters, identifying and driving strategies/actions to deliver Credit and business unit goals, approving credit limits with delegated authority
Secure approval for exposures exceeding individual authority, managing financial/credit risk for a customer portfolio according to the Downstream Credit Manual, and leading and/or provide support to regional/global Credit and Business initiatives.
Requirements
What we need from you
You must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Minimum of 7 (seven) years of experience in Credit or Finance is required, from Oil and Gas, Energy, or any work – related industries
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related business degree; Credit Professional designation or MBA a plus
Strong understanding of financial statements, complex financial and risk analysis. Must be able to understand and interpret customer financial statements
Deep knowledge in credit structuring and finance analysis
Strong commercial acumen
Stakeholder management
Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and stakeholder management skills. Must have the professional competence and confidence to work effectively with both internal and external customers.
Strong influencing and negotiating skills with ability to make tough decisions and assume accountability for those decisions.
Ability to work decisions / issues to a satisfactory conclusion while maintaining customer relationships.
Must be positive, assertive, and self-motivated to achieve results. A strong team player and demonstrated evidence of leadership skills.
Downstream business experience desirable
Willing to travel (25% travel requirement)
