Job Summary

 

 

Targray is looking for a Director of Operations - Renewable Fuels to oversee its growing global renewable fuels business. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of >$1B in biofuels (biodiesel, renewable diesel, Feedstock) and renewable energy credits (RECs, RINs, LCFS, etc.) being moved domestically in North America and internationally throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia. You will lead an international energy operations team in the management of all renewable fuel logistics & transportation, freight, compliance, and import / export requirements.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Structure efficient logistics and freight for the movement of renewable fuels and energy credits globally and regionally. 
  • Identify key market conditions, regulations, and market structures to help evaluate potential savings opportunities in the movement of biofuels including biodiesel, renewable diesel and feedstocks.
  • Optimize logistics and create a proactive capability to support the various trading desks globally.
  • Be aware of new energy industry trend developments and best practices in the logistics & freight sectors and conduct market trend analysis and evolve transportation strategies.
  • Recommend strategic guidelines on the efficient movement of renewable fuels in several markets.
  • Be a convincing, persuasive agent of change.
  • Monitor fuel inventories and sources of supply to ensure current and future availability to meet commitments.
  • Plan, analyze and execute negotiations with fuel suppliers, brokers.        
  • Work closely with Commercial teams to understand future business flows.
  • Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders across several departments (Commercial, Risk, IT, Finance)
  • Ensure daily operations run efficiently and are fully supported.
  • Provide support for internal or external audits.
  • Manage complex logistics, transportation and import/export matters.
  • Monitor variances between forecasted and actual operations expenses.
  • Contribute to developing new processes, procedures and tools utilized by the department, as well as to improving existing ones.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • University Degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Commodities trading operations knowledge considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Oracle, Power BI
  • Renewable energy industry knowledge and experience; Knowledge of renewable energy credits and compliance considered an asset.
  • 15+ years of experience in new and existing energy markets, energy commodity trading, contract negotiations, international freight logistics & import/export.
  • Transportation (Ocean/rail and truck) experience considered an asset.
  • Fuel terminal management experience considered an asset.

  • Understanding of renewable fuel market mechanisms and compliance requirements considered a major asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with renewable fuels trading, specifically in logistics, compliance and import/export management & execution.
  • Strong organizational skills and logistics planning experience.
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal; French considered an asset.
  • Strong decision-making abilities taking into consideration various factors.
  • Economically conscientious individual able to drive continuous improvement objectives.
  • Ethical and accountable, with proven ability to lead and coach a team.
