Job Summary 

The Controller will report directly to the Senior Director Finance & Audit and will directly support the Finance Team to ensure the accurate compilation, analysis, and reporting of accounting data, and implementing and maintaining appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

 Oversee the accounting department, daily transaction processing, the chart of accounts, and manage the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Revenue generation activities.

  • Managing the accounting team in India, troubleshooting accounting questions.
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
  • Compare sales and profit and loss projections to actual amounts and budgeted expenses to actual expenses and explain and discuss all major differences.
  • Coordinating internal financial statements.
  • Manage and prepare information for the annual year end audit. Prepare all schedules on a timely basis.
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes.
  • Cross-functional collaboration to improve processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing and recording.
  • Monitoring of internal controls.
  • Payroll accounting/expense report system administrator.
  • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff.

 

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s in accounting
  • Certification: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Accounting experience in the commodities industry highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE standards.
  • Experience with Monthly G/L Close, Financial Statement Preparation, etc.
  • Experience with MS Great Plains/Dynamics.
  • Strong Excel knowledge. Need to be well versed in Pivot tables and V-Lookup. Understanding of SQL queries is an asset.
  • Experience in ERP and system implementation an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Detail oriented, professional attitude, and reliable.
  • Possesses strong organization and time management skills.
  • Experience in global divisions with multi-department account activities.
  • Experience in managing a team at distance.
  • Candidates fluent in Hindi is considered an asset
