THE ROLE

We have a junior systems administrator position available in our End User Computing team, who look after all the technology used directly by humans in our organisation, such as the Windows and Linux desktops and Windows server infrastructure (including active directory, application deployment, clustered enterprise database systems, monitoring and automated build systems), audio-visual deployments, LAN, internet, and WiFi network environments and a wide range of enterprise applications (including e-mail, third-party productivity tools, and finance-specific applications).

This role will suit an individual looking to build a career as a systems administrator or infrastructure specialist in a world-class firm. You will be a natural tinkerer, interested in different types of hardware, networking, or possibly building your own machines.

We exhibit special expertise in automation (predominantly in PowerShell, but also in Python and other languages). For anyone interested in maximising their knowledge of technology extremely quickly, this is likely to be one of the best jobs in the industry.

Example tasks may include:

  • Office 365 /Azure AD management.
  • Troubleshooting issues on trading workstations.
  • MS Teams AV Support.
  • Physically deploying new hardware in the office. 
  • Debugging remote access VPN issues.
  • Changing file permissions mastered in Unix
  • Assisting projects such as MS Teams telephony roll out; OS upgrades; Office fit outs and more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support staff in their use of computer systems.
  • Responsible for the daily operation of the JIRA support request system.
  • Daily maintenance and monitoring of various systems (which include but are not limited to: Active directory; Office365 Mail infrastructure; Video conferencing solutions; telephony).
  • On/off boarding of staff.
  • Diagnosis and resolution of operational issues involving windows desktops; windows servers; Linux workstations; remote access and finance-specific software such as the Bloomberg terminals.
  • Provision of technical assistance and coordination for the office Mechanical and Electrical systems (such as the physical security access system, UPS, gas extinguishant system) – direct operation of these systems is not a requirement, but the ability to manage the vendors who support these systems is.
  • Managing technology hardware inventories, procuring additional equipment and licenses as required to refresh and augment the technology in the office

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Approximately 2-4 years relevant experience in a comparable firm.
  • Experience in administrator level access to windows systems (Active directory; Office 365; Azure AD; Windows 10/11; Windows Server)
  • PowerShell scripting knowledge.
  • Familiarity with SCCM (application and OS deployment)
  • Familiarity with the LINUX command line
  • Familiarity with basic Cisco networking commands
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • PC and server hardware troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with Python is advantageous
  • Personable and enthusiastic with a genuine desire to enable staff to take full advantage of their IT systems. Able to explain technical concepts and events to non-technical staff members

The base salary range for this role is between $95,000 to $125,000 depending on relevant job-related skills and experience. You will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual performance bonus scheme and will enjoy a comprehensive package of benefits. All bonuses, benefits, and any sign-on payments are in addition to the base salary range stated.
