This is an incredible opportunity for a Principal Cloud Architect to join Apex's Platform team in Portland and develop our Cloud strategy. As a leader of the Cloud architecture group, you will also manage a small team of talented cloud engineers, as well as drive cloud adoption throughout the firm.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Help transform architectural thinking from traditional on-premise platforms to external cloud-hosted platforms with increased scalability, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage a small team of highly talented cloud engineers to design and implement our cloud infrastructure
  • Work with other architects and engineers to design, develop and coordinate high availability, disaster recovery and BCP strategies.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to develop a strategic cloud infrastructure roadmap and become a strong business partner at ideation through to implementation.
  • Build strong working relationships with other platform and application teams.
  • Evangelize new cloud technologies – emerging, disruptive, and new methods of architecture design and integration 
  • Produce detailed documentation on system design and implementation.
  • Ability to articulate case for change, proven experience in driving change effectively
  • Lead detailed discovery analysis, and recommendations that are tailored to the organization
  • Ability to provide cost analysis based on designed solutions.
  • Ensure the adherence to policies defined by the Security team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of IT Infrastructure experience and/or Devops 
  • 5+ years experience building cloud infrastructure; preferably GCP
  • 5+ years experience of building and managing a team
  • Experience facilitating discussions with senior leadership regarding technical / architectural trade-offs, best practices, and risk mitigation.
  • Experience building, architecting, designing, and implementing highly-distributed global cloud-based systems, and experience in network infrastructure, security, data, or application development.
  • Experience with on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments and roadmaps.
  • Knowledge of technology solutions and an understanding of large-scale computing solutions and the enterprise technology buying and evaluation process.
  • Ability to learn/work with emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space.
  • Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals.
  • Ability to deliver results and work cross-functionally; engage/influence audiences and identify expansion engagements.

Apex currently requires all employees as a condition of employment to either be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or submit to regular testing.
