The Senior Staff Accountant performs various accounting and business services that support the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and analysis to enable senior and line management to make appropriate business decisions and achieve Accounting departmental goals.

Primary job responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the Director of Statutory Reporting in preparing regulatory filings.
  • Recording and reconciles investments.
  • Performing full-cycle accounting in accordance with GAAP/STAT to include preparation and appropriate documentation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, preparation of sub-ledgers that tie to trial balance accounts.
  • Ensuring all compliance requirements involving the essential functions of the job are met.
  • Establishing and maintains effective professional working relationship with co-workers and every level of management.
  • Supporting and assists on special projects when needed. We are looking for a highly-motivated professional who enjoys working with and helping others, to join our team.

Other candidate qualifications and skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university, Accounting or finance degree preferred; three (3) to five (5) years of staff accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • P&C industry accounting experience preferred, but NOT required.
  • Knowledge of full cycle accounting required.
  • Statutory Accounting Principle knowledge needed. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and Internet browser applications.

 

This job cannot be performed in California, Washington, New York City or Colorado.
